Monthly Cost: €210.70 (including insurance)After over 10 years of using various storage providers without issue, our experience with SPACE Storage Ballymount was by far the most distressing and professionally mishandled. Despite a promising start, we were left dealing with severe billing issues, substandard facilities, and a complete breakdown in communication—culminating in the loss of valuable business stock.Onboarding & Initial Impressions
We moved to SPACE Storage after they matched a competitor’s quote (€210.70 incl. insurance).
The move-in was quick and efficient.
The only 75 sq ft unit available was unclean and exposed, raising immediate concerns about the safety of our inventory (costumes, wigs, props).
We voiced these concerns at the time but were reassured the unit was safe and it was the only available option.Payment System & Difficulties
SPACE Storage uses a 4-week billing cycle (not monthly), which is highly inconvenient for small businesses trying to manage accounts.
Payments are only accepted via Direct Debit, with no fixed date, causing unnecessary admin overhead.Starting in April 2025:
We were notified of a missed payment.
Despite clear bank evidence (screenshots, transaction confirmations, and formal letters from AIB & BOI), SPACE Storage insisted they never received the funds.
We attempted multiple payments, even resorting to a personal bank account and credit card to resolve the matter.
Not once did we receive an apology or genuine attempt to investigate the issue from their side.
Instead, the attitude from management was defensive, dismissive, and at times outright rude.Ignored Complaint Process Request
Throughout the ordeal, we repeatedly requested information on their formal complaints procedure.
Every request was ignored—a clear breach of basic customer care and accountability standards.Aggressive Communications
While I was recovering from surgery, SPACE Storage sent threatening emails accusing us of non-payment and no contact—both completely false.
This aggressive behaviour during a medical absence was deeply unprofessional and caused unnecessary distress.Facility Conditions
The unit was filthy, exposed to the elements, and infested with silverfish and other pests.
We documented visible damage to our items, with wigs and costumes showing holes, fraying, and signs of infestation.
Rat traps were visible throughout the premises, underscoring serious hygiene concerns.
Ultimately, over 25% of our stock was destroyed, resulting in substantial financial loss.We vacated the unit immediately after resolving the payment—using a 12th attempt via personal credit card—just to avoid further issues.
SPACE Storage Ballymount may offer competitive rates, but the cost in stress, lost inventory, and poor treatment far outweighs any savings.
If you care about reliable service, professional conduct, and safeguarding your belongings, we strongly recommend avoiding this provider entirely.
