Let’s start with the fact that Surguard Self Storage has so many 5-star reviews because their staff ask customers to leave a 5-star rating during check-in and make sure they do it.We left London for four months over the summer and came back a couple of times. During one of those visits, I opened our storage unit and found that almost all of our boxes had been chewed through. It turned out that mice had infested either our unit or the neighbouring ones.To make matters worse, we had to wait until Monday because there is apparently no emergency support over the weekend. When we opened some of our shoe boxes, mice literally ran out of them.We reported everything immediately. They carried out an inspection and, unbelievably, instead of taking responsibility, they served us with an eviction notice. According to them, the reason mice were running around their entire facility was… our pasta, rice and grains, which were stored inside a heavy-duty airtight plastic container so thick that even a dog would struggle to chew through it.We are now being forced to find somewhere else to store all of our belongings within a single day because of the company’s complete failure to deal with a rodent infestation. Instead of solving the problem, they simply looked for someone to blame.Behind our boxes there were piles of chewed candy wrappers. We do not even eat sweets, so they certainly were not ours, but apparently blaming the customer was easier than admitting they have mice throughout the building.After pointing this out, I sent three more emails. Every single one was ignored.Avoid this place at all costs. If you don’t want mice living in your belongings and then being blamed for the infestation yourself, choose another storage company. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.
