Grey Street is meant to be one of the most beautiful streets in the UK. Unfortunately, it was littered with ‘slop’ from the Christmas market and there was rubbish everywhere… Thank God I saw the bin men! The market itself was very disappointing - mainly food stalls and hardly any gifts! Where was the meaning of Christmas? 🤷🏼♂️🤔 Strange bollards in Grey Street are awful to walk over! Old Eldon Square looked nice with a lovely carousel and Ferris wheel though. 👍🏻 ☺️
We travelled from Hull as a family of 4 to see Santa and experience the Christmas markets in Newcastle this December. The Santa stories were absolutely amazing, without question the best Santa we have ever seen, he was brilliant with the children and even made it funny for adults, he even had our teenager laughing. A special mention to the elves who made our son feel extra special before we even entered the doors to see the big guy! We toasted marshmallows, rode the carousel and ate from some of the most delicious Christmas food stalls. We Can’t wait to tell our family and friends. We will definitely be back next year Newcastle.
Ho ho holy moly, it is busy! 🎅 If you enjoy shuffling along like a penguin while getting up close and personal with half the population of Newcastle, you’re in for a treat. The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, though! Do be prepared to say a tearful goodbye to your life savings. 💸 I’m pretty sure I almost had to remortgage the house for a round of hot chocolates and a bratwurst, but hey, it’s Christmas! Most importantly, the kids absolutely loved it. Between the lights, the rides, and the massive sugar rush, they had a ball—which makes the dent in the bank account (mostly) worth it. Top tip: Wear comfy shoes and bring a sense of humor! 🌭🎄✨
It's your typical Christmas market. There's plenty of stalls with Yorkshire wraps, brownies, cupcakes, Christmas wreaths, jewellery, mulled wine and beer etc. Even lush have a stall. The stuff is overpriced but I imagine the price of renting these stalls is expensive so they have to make some profit. We enjoyed our time in Newcastle exploring these and going round the city and I'm sure there's something for everyone.
