Had to leave a review because the service here yesterday was just NEXT LEVEL!! Shout out to you, Jen! She was so welcoming and genuinely helpful. I’ve honestly never had a better experience at a bank.Usually going to the bank is just a whole chore, but Jen at the Sunderland branch completely turned my day around yesterday. She gave me the absolute best service I’ve ever encountered. So kind, patient and helpful. Please give this lady a raise!

If I could rate 0, I would. Terrible service over the last 3 weeks. My in laws have been trying to work through some business banking requests. They are both elderly over 70 years old and instead of trying to help them they kept telling them they needed to do online banking which they aren't comfortable with at this moment in time. My mother in law spoke to three members of staff today all of whom treated her with utter disrespect. Michelle was one of the members of staff who wouldn't explain why my mother in laws cards hadn't arrived and why some services like withdrawl of money wasnt available for her. Instead kept telling her to go online or go to Newcastle. She claimed she was being overpowered by Mum when actually all Mum needed was clear direction and for things to be explained cleary. Why did Michelle not just write down the key points instead if talking wasn't working. When Mum said she was struggling to understand what was going on, she got told she was being difficult and they refused to serve her any further. Ridiculous. Another staff member left her waiting for 15 minutes for a statement. The member of staff she saw 2 weeks ago to order her card refused to help. She is elderly and needed support and got treated so badly that they want to close their HSBC account after being customer's of this branch for over 30 years. The manager who my mother in law said she wanted to speak to refused to come over and speak to her. Hid in the corner of the branch. Absolutely atrocious behaviour and will be complaining to HSBC head offices about the staff and service. My mother in law was made to feel disrespected and abused by the staff. My wife and I recently visited this bank after having problems with our Secure Keys. The staff were friendly, polite and understanding. I have to name Wilfred who advised us and patiently talked us through a recommended a quicker and easier method. alternative to access our accounts on our tablets. We appreciate their help and advice .

ISA transfer Had a problem with transferring an ISA from a previous provider to my new HSBC ISA account. I was lucky enough to get help from a gentleman called Wilfred. He came across as charming and very helpful and put my wife and I at ease. I liked his "no pressure" approach and felt confident enough to ask a few hypothetical questions which he answered so well he put my mind at ease and solved some future concerns. I would recommend approaching Wilfred if you want someone helpful and easy to talk to. I would also recommend the Sunderland branch, it's a high quality setup and all the staff are outstanding. I like dealing with my finances at that branch.
