Unfortunately we had a negative experience with Safestore at Ashton Gate.We had concerns that the unit we looked at might not be big enough, and were informed in an in-person meeting that we would have a 14 day cooling off period. In the agreement it says that this 14 day period applies as long as you dont move anything into the unit.Before we moved anything in, and after only two days of the agreement starting, we realised the unit wasn't going to be big enough and that we had too much stuff. We needed to work out what our options were cost wise because this was the top of what we could afford. So we emailed them straight away to cancel the agreement.We were told that the 14 day cooling off period didn't apply because we had put a lock on the unit. We were surprised by this and pointed out that it doesn't say this in the agreement. We also pointed out that we hadn't moved anything in. The member of staff then replied by email to say that a 14 day cooling off period is not something offered. When I contested this, the staff member said that the 14 day period is only offered to those who book online and not to those who come in in person. Which is absolutely not what we were told in person, and their reason for not issuing a refund kept changing!I asked for next steps to lodge a formal complaint and to recommend that the wording of their agreement be changed to specify that the 14 day cooling off period will be void if a lock is placed on the unit. However I was not provided with any contact details, so I feel obliged to leave a negative review and file a complaint with the ombudsman in the hope that this gets changed so people dont get caught out in future.
Service is always fantastic at this DHL drop off location, Rowan was particularly helpful. Tried to drop off with a DHL depot previously who were awful and wouldn't accept my free return parcel without ID! Would always use this location going forward
We needed a storage unit when moving from one house to the other - Rowan was suuuper helpful, answered my emails super quickly and explained everything extremely clearly. Moving things into the unit as a result was a great experience, and very straightforward and easy. Would definitely recommend! Thank you so much for all your help again Rowan!
