Manchester Christmas Markets are a must-visit during winterThe main highlights are Albert Square (“A Taste of Christmas”) and Cathedral Gardens, filled with festive food & drink stalls (mulled wine, bratwurst, churros, hot chocolate), crafts, gifts, live atmosphere, fairground rides, and the ice rink at Cathedral Gardens.Locations: Albert Square, Cathedral Gardens (walkable city-centre loop) Timings: Mostly 10:00 am – 9:00 pm (shorter hours on Christmas Eve, closed on Christmas Day) Duration: Late Oct/early Nov to early January (Albert Square & Cathedral Gardens run longer)Great for families, couples, and tourists. Best visited on weekday evenings to avoid heavy crowds. Festive vibes all around.
A camping ground for the homeless.Good to see that the city is renovating its landmarks, but as a tourist there was not much to see 😅 Also, there must be a better way to solve the homelessness crises than allowing people to camp in the city square?
It is a shame that the building is virtually completely shrouded in boards during the renovation. The Victorian Gothic style is impressive.The building inside is worth a visit if you can. I had a reception there for a civic conference I helped organize.Worth doing if you can.
