We rented a storage unit at Storebox, Middlesbrough which was an easy enough experience to set up online. However, we were given a unit on the 2nd floor which wouldn’t usually be a problem, if only the lifts worked. On numerous occasions the goods lifts were either both broken or only one working.On our emptying day on the 5th July I had to
empty the unit and carry everything down 2 flights of stairs. This was very risky, however if I didn’t empty it I would have been charged another month at over £100I raised the issue with customer service on checkout whose response was “please leave a review”. So that’s what I’m doing.Good clean Unit but practicalities meant I wouldn’t choose Storebox, Middlesbrough again.Pictures below of the broken lifts which I sent to Customer services but were ignored.

Great storage unit, easy to access, always space for parking. Really useful having a wide range of unit sizes and options, as well as having long opening hours has been really useful! 100% recommended.

I used Storebox from July 2025 to June 2026 for a protracted house move.
Move in was easy, everything was ready for move in and instructions were clear.
The building is clean and tidy, and my unit was spotless.
The site is secure, with keypad protected gates and doors. There are cameras in all areas and automatic lighting. I appreciated this as a lone female visiting the site in the evenings.
I have had no real issues through the duration of storage - minor issues like finding the gates left open on occassion by other clients were addressed quickly.
I did notice recently that some maintenance issues cropped up - the attended lift has broken down frequently over the last couple of weeks, which was a pain while trying to move my belongings out. However there is a goods only lift aswell so it wasn't insurmountable. There have also been some issues with the building key pad not accepting my code at times, but there is a second entrance. Both issues are being addressed, with signage up to inform customers that replacement parts are on order and engineers arranged.
My only other gripe is the lack of trolleys available - there are only three for a huge building, so it can be difficult to move things in/out from a second floor unit if all three are in use.
