I decided on self-storage after inheriting a lot of stuff from my grandparents and not having the heart to get rid of it. Furniture, old books, and various memorabilia all went into one unit. I have access to them whenever I want and can browse through them freely.
I rented a self-storage unit when running a small renovation business, and it made my life much easier. Tools, materials, everything in one place, without having to haul it in the car every day. You can drive up at any time and grab what you need. A big plus for security.
I needed a warehouse to support my online store, and it worked really well. Couriers arrived without a hitch, dropped off deliveries, and I popped in every day to pack orders. I didn't have to rent a large facility or keep everything at home. It's a very convenient and flexible solution. The only downside is that when it's busy, it gets crowded, and you have to maintain order, otherwise you quickly lose track of your inventory.
I used a storage unit when moving, and it was one of the best decisions I made during all the chaos.
