I regularly travel abroad for several months at a time, so I decided to use a storage unit so I wouldn't have to keep everything in my apartment. I rented a space for six months, and it worked out really well. Things were in order, nothing got wet, nothing was missing, and I felt like everything was under control. I also like that I can drop by anytime I'm in the country. The only thing I didn't anticipate was that I chose a slightly larger space, but that's more my fault than the solution itself.

I used the storage unit at a rather difficult time when I needed somewhere to store my belongings while I was leaving. I didn't want to leave them with friends or somewhere accessible to anyone else. Here, I had my own space and the peace of mind that everything was safe. I could come back whenever I wanted and add or remove items without stress. This was important for me mentally. The only downside was that with larger items, it was a bit of a struggle to unload, but it was still worth it.
