I'm very happy with the Storebox in Aarau. Everything is clean, well-organized, and access is easy with a code. Perfect if you need extra storage space at short notice.

I would definitely not recommend this company – it's best to stay away from them. The Storebox compartments are poorly designed and have awkward dimensions and square footage. They are tall, but not long or wide enough. Furthermore, you can see through the compartments to see what's stored there, and they're not secure because they're open at the bottom – anyone could theoretically steal items.Canceling the compartment is also extremely complicated. It's difficult to find the cancellation button in your customer account, and the notice period is one to two months, depending on whether you cancel at the beginning or end of the month. The small print also states that you must upload photos of the compartment; otherwise, the cancellation will not be accepted and the contract will be automatically renewed. The price seems cheaper in the first month (about CHF 20 less), but after that, they require additional insurance, proof of which cannot be uploaded anywhere in your account because the option simply isn't available. Uploading photos to hand over the compartment is also almost impossible, as the system only accepts certain image formats. For people without experience with image editing, this is almost impossible – they end up stuck with a contract that simply continues. Finally, you're treated like a criminal when the compartment has to be vacated even though you haven't used it for months. And you even receive higher bills because the contract is automatically renewed. To me, this company's behavior is dubious and unfriendly to customers – almost mafia-like.

About Storebox

Storebox is a provider of self storage solutions, operating across multiple European countries including Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The company offers accessible storage units that cater to a wide range of personal and business needs. With numerous locations situated in urban and residential areas, they focus on providing convenient and modern storage options. The facilities are designed to be easily reachable, allowing customers to find a suitable space close to their home or workplace. Storebox presents a straightforward approach to gaining extra space.

A common need for self storage arises during significant life events or business operations. For instance, renting a unit from Storebox can simplify a house move by providing a temporary place for furniture and boxes. It is also a practical choice during a home renovation, offering a secure location for belongings while work is underway. Businesses often use this type of storage space for rent to manage inventory, archive important documents, or store equipment without committing to large commercial leases. Students may also find short-term storage useful for their possessions during semester breaks.

Renting a storage unit typically involves a clear process. The first step is to determine the required size, which can range from small lockers for a few boxes to larger rooms capable of holding the contents of an entire apartment. Contracts are often flexible, allowing for both short-term storage on a monthly basis and longer-term arrangements. Access to the storage space is a key consideration, and many modern facilities offer extended hours or even round-the-clock access. Logistical factors such as ground-floor availability, loading zones, and the provision of trolleys contribute to a smoother moving experience.

When deciding on a self storage provider, several factors come into play. The final cost is influenced by the unit's size, the length of the rental period, and the location of the facility. Security measures, such as surveillance systems and controlled access, are also important considerations for protecting stored items. Additionally, some items may require climate-controlled environments to prevent damage from temperature or humidity fluctuations. Using a platform like The Storage Scanner allows customers to compare different providers, including their prices and features, helping to make an informed decision.

Tips for renting storage with Storebox

  • Security considerations: Evaluate the security measures at the facility, such as CCTV monitoring, electronic gate access, and the quality of the individual unit locks.
  • Access and logistics: Consider the logistics of moving your items in and out. Check for features like nearby parking, loading bay availability, and whether the facility provides trolleys or has lifts to upper floors.
  • Pricing structure: Examine the pricing details closely. Clarify the terms of any introductory offers, understand how and when prices may be adjusted, and confirm the notice period for ending the contract.
  • Informed comparison: Use The Storage Scanner to compare prices, sizes, availability, and features from Storebox with other providers in your area to ensure you find a suitable option.
